Andrew fixed his gut issues, poor sleep and high blood sugar while also dropping 20 pounds in the process without cutting calories after years of low carb dieting and fasting. We'll be talking about how he did it in today's video. And if you didn't watch part one of this series, we discussed how Andrew's years of low carb dieting and fasting led to high blood pressure, high blood sugar, gut issues, brain fog, poor sleep and fatigue. And in part two today, we'll be talking about Andrew's experience implementing the energy balance approach.

We'll discuss his fear around his blood sugar values when he added in carbs and what the actual results were. We'll be talking about the difference between weight loss as a result of health versus weight loss at the cost of health. We'll also discuss how Andrew lost body fat without restriction or cutting calories and how he resolved his nighttime binging, high blood pressure, gut issues, and poor sleep while also improving thyroid and testosterone levels with the energy balance approach. So with that, let's jump right in. All right. So we looked.

very healthy from the outside. We had absolutely crashed internally. Nothing was functioning properly. it wasn't looking good on paper with the labs, blood pressure readings, and then also in terms of how you were feeling. So obviously we're feeling a lot better now. What's happened since then. So obviously you came across the bio energetic approach.

Yeah, so I mean, you know, for me, what you know, having those those energy breaking moments where, you know, once again, you know, the concept of for me doing manual labor and dreading and are just taking so much out of me and then having all these other things happen, you would force me to say, OK, I'm going to pause and evaluate everything I'm doing. And, you know, with a blessing, I came across some repeat information like a lot of us do. You know, and I think a couple of YouTube videos and an article I had just stumbled upon and

started to read and learn about the concept of bioenergetic view of health. I was very intrigued because it was obviously the opposite of everything that I had been doing the last 12 years for the most part. But the physiology and the understanding of energy metabolism and knowing that energy balance governs all things in the system and getting away from that rate of living theory

Andrew Wallen (02:18)

you know, into this pro metabolic, you know, idea of, of the way we need to live and have the highest metabolism possible. It, you know, how I felt forced me into absolutely just looking in the mirror and saying, okay, I'm not going to accept, you know, all these things and all these people that have been telling me what to do because it's led to this. You know, if I was, you know, the, you know, person that's supposed to be the poster child of this, I should have been feeling amazing. I should have had been internally reflecting, you know, the way

you know, that I looked and I did mismatch, like you said. And so, yeah, I came across Ray Pete's work. And then from there, you know, was able to come across your YouTube channel. And, you know, from there, it just became apparent that, you know, with everything I was watching and seeing, you know, on the Energy Balance podcast is that you had systematized and put a lot of things in place from, you know, the standpoint of

the way my brain worked. I'm a systematic person. When I look at anything, whether it's my business models, whether it's Jiu-Jitsu, whether it's all this stuff, I like to systematically look at things and approach it and kind of work through it. so I was really quickly understanding that the way that the Energy Balance podcast and the way that you were setting up your information was exactly what I needed to learn this, learn what was happening in the birengetic realm.

Yeah, so I stumbled upon that and then, you know, from there, you know, I, you know, I think I'd signed up for, you know, the email and you'd sent out, you know, some, some emails of information. And I, you know, went ahead and moved forward with the energy balance course and, know, the eight week course that was an amazing educational step for me to just to learn deeper into, okay, what is the bio-energetic view of health and how does energy balance govern all things in the system? And so did the course obviously signed up with the, uh,

community where you know got part of group calls got you know able to access you know the community to ask questions and to look at different resources that you you would had in there that was different than you know what was on the podcast just to mainly drill down because one of the things I I knew early on watching your stuff especially was it was about taking back your health it was about you know helping people you know regain or re you know have a

Andrew Wallen (04:38)

re-education into what was healthy. And so for me, it was, you know, starting to go through all the resources and realize, okay, and quickly it was just, you know, the, the cliche of a duck to water. just, you know, it just made too much sense, especially with how I felt. And luckily enough, I had, you know, had the background, you know, from an education standpoint to start to really know, okay, from you know, energy metabolism standpoint, and from a metabolism standpoint, these stress induced

you know, highly hormesis based living systems were not the answer. And so, yeah, I, know, you and I then, you know, started our journey and, and yeah, we can dive into that, but that's, you know, it's been a complete blessing from that point.

Yeah, yeah, it's awesome. And so just to touch on a couple of things to come back through. So this was several years back when you first joined the programs and started to really make these shifts bioenergetically. And that's important as we talk through what the experience has been over these last several years. But also I wanted to touch on what you were mentioning where in the energy balance course and then the follow up energy balance solution program.

You we really spend a lot of time focusing on the why, emphasizing, as you said, reeducation, learning, understanding what's going on in our bodies and kind of relearning or unlearning a lot of what we had learned before. you know, you were kind of comparing it to the podcast. And one thing that, you we really make a point to do is keep things practical, especially in the energy balance solution where, you know, the course we focus on that understanding so that we can apply the information properly for ourselves because

What we don't want is for someone to always be dependent on us for coaching, right? We want them to learn and have the resources available so they can take control of their own health and see these improvements on their own. But of course we're there for that guidance. And then yeah, the energy balance solution really being focused on the application, right? And instead of talking as much about the background and the physiology, it's really just getting right into strategies and specific action steps people can take.

Jay Feldman (06:52)

to see improvements in whatever issue they're working on, whether it's sleep or testosterone or estrogen or gut health, thyroid health and on from there. And so you worked your way through those programs and then we did some one-on-one coaching together as well to kind of, a couple of things. mean, one to touch some things up and help you resolve some of these health issues that had developed after a

you know, basically digging yourself deep into a metabolic hole from, you know, a decade plus of different, different strategies that were not health supportive. but then also working through the research and building a really deep understanding, so that you would then be able to apply that and help other people. So let's talk about the, you know, your health experience, especially early on when you first transitioned into,

the bioenergetics approach you had done, the energy balance programs, we were doing one-on-one coaching. What were the initial things that you experienced and what went on during that time?

Well, I mean, I think for me first was a major mindset shift. Like you said, I mean, you when we work with clients, the one thing, you know, we always talk about is obviously, like you just said, the why, you know, and to me, what breeds sustainability in someone's health journey and the fact that they're going to get up every day and attempt to be the healthiest version of themselves is that why. And so from the course and being an energy about solution and just the podcast is that a lot of it was about me changing my mindset and understanding my why.

of why we were doing what we're doing besides my individualized feeling poor. But in general, the why and understanding it was so helpful. And then for me, from the beginning, that first six months that we worked together and I was doing a lot of the energy balance strategies and solutions that we had put forth is that right away, energy immediately kicked up. I could tell just the way my brain was functioning, the way my

Andrew Wallen (08:59)

you know, just daily tasks and working with clients that my brain just felt so much sharper. And what's great is once again, I remember when we first started, I had gotten blood work right before that. That's why, you know, I once again saw those A1C numbers and I said, okay, this can't be right. So after six months of doing this, you know, I obviously got my blood work again. And I was, when you, you know, you get inundated with the idea that carbs are bad for you.

you I was extremely nervous for, you know, what that blood work was going to look like because I had gone from, you know, 50 to 100, 125 grams of carbs a day for 10 years. And so, you know, I was unsure of, of now I, you know, put a lot of carbohydrates back in my, you my body. was, you know, I was, you know, in the back of my mind, a little bit worried about what those numbers would be. And so

Sure. And, and sorry, just to clarify in case someone didn't understand, you were doing between 50 and 125 grams, a lot of that being resistant starch and everything for over 10 years. We added in carbs far higher than that, right? 300 plus grams a day.

Right. And I mean, just once again, my individual journey, you know, and kind of, that's what he was talking about is that, obviously that's another thing I'd like about the system, you know, of how we coach clients is that we evaluate that every person is unique and every person has, you know, that individualized blueprint that we're trying to work through. so for me, I remember when we first started from a metabolic perspective that, you know, once again, eating the, you know, let's say, you know, 125 carbs a day of resistant starch carbs.

You know, I started to bump that up. I remember calorically speaking, I could only eat about 23 to 2500 calories a day to not gain or lose weight. And so within a six month period of time, you I was eating about 3500 calories a day to not gain or lose weight. And my carbohydrates were, you know, three, 400 grams a day, you know, and then I had done that on an excessive basis and got that, that, that blood work back and all my numbers went down.

Andrew Wallen (11:04)

And that was the major, that for me was when I really saw, like I knew it and I believed it based on understanding the why, but you know, I could feel it, but it was just a great, you know, like a affirming, you know, like data to show, okay, carbohydrates are my primary fuel source. Living stress-based is not what I need to be doing. I need to be supporting my body. And it really kind of brought me into like the concept of like, you know, we talk about energy balance governs all things. And so,

when we understanding that energy metabolism through carbohydrates as our primary fuel source obviously is, to me, I got to see the data to show that that was truly the way to live and the way to support my body. But it was a short term win and I think over the last three and a half years of doing this, it's been a process of gathering a bunch of wins like that as I was trying to dig out of this hole, like you said, trying to heal my body.

A lot of that comes from the standpoint of like, I always talk with clients about major principles. You're in a partnership with your body. And a lot of times when we do these stress induced dieting strategies, it's really about you yelling at your body or you telling it what to do. And as anybody knows, in a good partnership, it's about communication, about listening. And so for me, whether it was how I felt in my everyday life or what my data was showing me on my blood work, and just the way I felt,

Obviously wasn't listening to my body and so for that first six months, you know the energy started to come back right away and then seeing that first round of blood work to see improvements in my glucose metabolism when I Freed of four times the amount of carbohydrates that I had been eating for you know about ten years prior to that and so for me at that point that was when I knew you know fully like alright and what's been great is that you know, like we get you know with our current clients now where

I have that happen all the time now. It's something to look forward to when they rerun their blood work, just to see those numbers improve when they think that, because the dogmatic ideology that Carbohydrate is bad for you obviously is not true. And we see that with our clients we work with. So yeah, for me, it was a major eye opening moment at that point. And then, you know, on the journey of all the things I was working through, it was about just gathering as many wins. I know this is individual again to me, but one of the things I did

Andrew Wallen (13:24)

on this process was journal a lot. And I would journal, you know, at different points, different wins that I'd gotten because, you know, I was a pretty rational person to understand that I wasn't going to reverse 10 to 12 years of stress-based living, you know, in a matter of six months. And so for me, it became apparent that, you know, I had to, you know, just continue to document different wins along the way that I would get that I knew as I read the science and learned about it, you know, from a deeper level.

and working with you, but also from practical standpoint, you know, of feeling it in my everyday life and knowing, you know, that I was on the right path.

Yeah. If I remember correctly, I think there was a couple of other things that were really shifting early on. and one that I want to talk about, which I think is a really common one is a relationship with restriction and binging and just the relationship with food and how that shifted. and then I think the other was digestion. We'll be continuing to talk about the benefits that Andrew experienced in terms of energy, sleep, digestion, and weight loss, as well as freedom from chronic restriction. But in the meantime, if you want to experience those same benefits,

The best place to start is with the Energy Balance Food Guide. The Energy Balance Food Guide will help you determine exactly what to eat, to optimally support your metabolism and help you lose weight, improve your digestion, get amazing sleep, boost your energy, and so much more. The Food Guide is a one-page infographic that organizes foods on a spectrum based on how effectively they support your metabolism. And it also has a separate spectrum that adjusts the scale for you in the case that you're dealing with various digestive issues. The Food Guide makes it extremely easy to get started with a bio-energetic approach.

to optimizing your health. So head over to jfeldmanwellness.com slash guide to download your free energy balanced food guide. Let's maybe start with the kind of relationship with food first.

Andrew Wallen (15:12)

Well, and as we talked, you know, that was one of my things where I'm thinking, okay, why can't I stop eating at night? You know, and I'm, you know, I'm running out of willpower. You know, I used to, in my head, I really honestly thought that willpower was like a muscle and somehow I fatigued it all day. And then at nighttime, I just didn't have it anymore. And so, you know, it was, it was very much psychologically, you know, really messing with me because once again, I felt like I was a hypocrite to my clients. Here I am trying to preach to them, not eat it late at night and not binge. And I was struggling myself. And so,

You know, transitioning over to, to, you know, the bio-ringetic view of health really opened my eyes to the supportive nature. You know, we talked about listening to your body, being in that good partnership. And so, you know, it was also another major win was when I started supporting myself with carbohydrates, any of my binge moments or anything that I would have at nighttime were gone. And I try to tell clients this because we get a lot of clients that struggle with, you know, they think their body after seven o'clock is trying to make them fat and unhealthy.

And at the end of the day, it's, you know, it's, it's not it at all. And you just have to listen. And so as I started listening to my body and feeding it, you know, more of obviously the high quality, you know, gut supportive foods and energy balanced foods, I quickly, you know, eliminated, you know, and it's, it's a, to me, it's a most freeing feeling ever to know that. And that's why to me now I call willpower a myth because I really do not think it's about willpower anymore. You know, I think it's about.

you know, what type of stress are you inducing in the system and learning to listen to your body? And so, yeah, getting rid of those late night binges and just being able to have foods that support me. And then what that transitioned into was better quality sleep. You know, my sleep started to improve. And so another thing I noticed was, hey, these nighttime urinations aren't happening anymore. And what corresponded with that was also when I would check my blood pressure, my gosh, I'm getting, you know, healthy blood pressures. And so I'm going, okay, I'm sleeping better. I'm eliminating binging.

and my blood pressure is improving and I'm not having nighttime urinations. And once again, like we said, that first six month blood work was a major like, okay, this is the right way. And then as I started to eliminate a lot of these other stress symptoms that were occurring, it just kept mounting these winds of knowing like, all right, this is the way of health. And what it's led me into is that, as you know, we work with clients and I tell them all the time on, especially on intro calls, is that this is your last health bus stop. This truly to me,

Andrew Wallen (17:38)

is when you've tried all the other things and they've left you feeling horrible, left you with blood work data that just doesn't make sense, is that to me, looking and supporting your body in this type of approach through a bio-energetic lens is just, to me, this is truly the way to find the healthiest version of you for the rest of your life. so, yeah, as I was taking this journey and improving in all these different things, that was with the improvements in sleep, Benjean.

It's just a beautiful thing to be able to come home at night. And if I want something, I can have it. And if not, I don't. there's nothing that it's just, it's all you can't even make it up or you can't believe it until it know, until it happens. But it's a beautiful thing. then gut wise, from a gut perspective, know, like heavy morning bowel movements, I thought was mythical as well. And so, you know, being able to get up, you know, and to be able to know, okay, from a gut health perspective and, know, like

Once again, it goes back to the concept of you don't know how good you can feel until you feel good. And for me, it was knowing that I was sleeping through the night, knowing that I was having regular bowel movements and that knowing that a lot of my symptoms, whether it's upper GI or lower GI were improving, it just continued to drill down to my why and why I can confidently tell clients, this is your last health block stop.

Yeah, totally. And, and as you said, some of it is hard to describe, right? It's especially when it comes to the restriction mindset and the bingeing and night. And I mean, it sounds like you were really a major example of someone who was pinning it on willpower and blaming yourself. I mean, as you said, you were, you were like seeking out psychotherapy to help with these pinches. And that reminds me as well of this idea of carb addiction, sugar addiction, right? That we hear

so often from those low carb spaces that these foods are addictive. And that's why when you binge, you're going to go to those. And the irony of the reality being that this is a nutrient that your body is asking for. It's essential to its physiology and extremely helpful and necessary for optimal function. And you provide it and the addiction, the like addictive tendency, the feeling of like the lack of control around the carbohydrates, and this idea of binging goes away and it's.

Jay Feldman (19:54)

Again, part of why it's indescribable is because I think most people live their entire lives relying on willpower and going through these kind of binge restrict cycles. And the better they are at restricting the carbohydrates and the calories, oftentimes the more prone they are to then binging on the weekend or at the birthday party or, you know, late at night. And I've talked through a number of experiences that I had like that, you know, in my journey and the freedom from that it's

It's hard to describe because it's not this idea that you just have better willpower. So you want the brownie, you want, you know, the, whatever the food is, but you're able to say, no, it's different. It's, it's actually that physiologically, you don't have the drive to eat that thing. You don't actually need it. Like you don't want it anymore because you've actually satisfied the, you've scratched the itch, the physiological itch. you've, you've actually provided the nutrients that your body.

is asking for and so it's not continuing to ask him for them. It's hard to describe until you experience it, but I think that along with the better energy that you mentioned are typically two of the things that we see very early on that are just major shifts. As you said, as logical as the bioenergetics perspective is and as much as it makes sense when we dig into the mechanisms, when we see it reflected in the research, those are two of the things that people really feel early on.

that they recognize, okay, this is it, this is correct, this is actually different from anything I've experienced before. And that doesn't mean that all of the health issues disappear in the first several weeks or even several months, especially when we've dug ourselves into the depth of holes that many of us have, including both you and I. And I know when I talked about my health journey, which again, was many years separated from it, and I was looking back in my journal,

And I was surprised to see, I was still dealing with like blood sugar fluctuations and cold hands and feet, you know, a couple of years in, like there was a number of symptoms that still hadn't fully resolved after my many years of intense dieting and, you know, even prior to low carbon, then adding things like low carb and all of that on top. So we have, I know we have a parallel situation here where we were seeing these improvements, the relationship with food, the energy, the digestion, the sleep. So those were things that really

Jay Feldman (22:21)

improved early on. But I know there were still some lingering issues, health related symptoms and then also some body composition related things. So do you want to dig into each of those?

Yeah, for sure. mean, you from my standpoint, know, part of the journey, obviously, when you know, say we went in and started addressing more gut health, you know, that I was so clients, there's nothing more individual about a person than their gut. And, you know, a lot of things that, you know, we were working through, the motility had improved. And, you know, we'd gotten wins, but it was continuing to work through, you know, what food groups and what types of carbohydrates and things worked best, you know, with my body, you know, not, you know,

forever, but just at that time period where my gut was. so, yeah, working through, you know, different, you know, whether it was antimicrobial supports and different food groups and just testing things out, you know, to once again, giving me a platform and a system to be able to understand that, you know, based on gut health and based on the individualness, you know, what foods and things would be the best, you know, to continue support, you know, these goals I was working on with energy metabolism and with gut health and lowering

you know, all those symptoms that come about for a lot of clients that seek us out. And so, you that was something, you know, that we continued to work through, you know, from a standpoint of the body composition. So that one was, you know, very interesting and that was a very psychological, I would say the Benjean at night stopping that was just an unbelievable psychological relief. The body composition was also as well something that it was just.

very much, I just didn't know how distorted my lens was of health. Like we talked about a little bit ago with the, the fat centric view of health is that, you know, when people come across this, you know, there's a lot of times we, we feel restrictive. We feel very, you know, like we've been lied to, you know, for a long time about different food things. And so we hear about carbohydrates and we think, all right, I'm just going to start eating carbohydrates because they're good for me. And so, you know, from my standpoint, you know, I always say there's two types of clients. There's one that

Andrew Wallen (24:24)

dives head first into the pool and the other one that slowly wades in. And so for me, you know, I felt so bad and felt, you know, like so low energy, all these symptoms and everything's and dysfunction and derangement that we talked about, you know, I dove in and, know, so, you know, I gained an initial, you know, like 18 to 20 pounds, you know, a pretty quick 18, 20 pounds because, you know, I felt so bad and I was just willing to do whatever it took to just to feel better. And so from that standpoint, and I know we, you know, we call a lot of times metabolic debt and

you when you look back on it and you have to remove the emotions, because I know your health, everybody's health journey is very emotional, but when you sit with the rationality of it is that the expectations of gaining a little bit of weight in somebody, and it could just be water weight because carbohydrates have been so low for over a period of time, or just the body's just way underfed, but gaining a little bit of that weight, I was willing to do that because of how bad I felt. And so from that standpoint, gaining that weight,

you know, as we started to improve my energy and my sleep and, know, no, you know, eliminating nighttime urination and gut health improving recovery and my workouts improving, you know, I knew still that, you know, that was going to be, you know, like I had to just settle in the end with the fact that sure, per my bodybuilding days or per my, you know, hermetic days, you know, if I was unhappy or emotional about the

you know, metabolic debt that I had to pay back while I was healing my body, I was, you know, I could have done a eight week cut cycle or some sort of, you know, you know, fat loss phase. But for me, because of knowing and understanding this journey, you know, learning, you know, about the science of it, I just didn't want to have to give back metabolically the wins I had gotten, whether it was in my energy and sleep and mood and, you know, gut health.

you know, for a change in body composition. And so what it led me down to was the famous saying where it's, you know, you don't lose weight to be healthy. You'd be healthy to lose weight. And so for me, what I knew that, you know, continuing to do this, you know, I dropped, think, you know, initial, you know, eight pounds off of that initial 20, 18 to 20 that I had gained, but I still had about 12 pounds that I was, I knew wasn't the healthiest version of myself externally, but I,

Andrew Wallen (26:47)

from a knowledge standpoint and from how much I trusted this way of health, I wasn't willing to compromise how I felt and how I sleeping to just go get temporary weight loss. And so that was a huge moment. Then we can talk about the next shifts that occurred.

Yeah. Yeah. And so just to kind of summarize, basically, you know, early on there were a number of health improvements and in that process you were refueling after years of depriving your body of the energy it needs by burning the candle at both ends, right? Tons of exercise, you know, a ton of energy demands and then also not providing that supply, right? Not providing enough fuel in the form of especially carbohydrates and doing things like fasting. And so

As a result, you know, we talk about this kind of accumulated metabolic debt where, sure, you might've lost body fat or gotten a lot leaner. And maybe you've gotten to the point where you think like, okay, this is, this is it. Like I've made it. then, you know, internally, obviously making a lot of compromises. And we had in our case, you know, or in your case, this crash that you described. And when it comes to the metabolic debt, you know, we talk about this process of, of repaying it with some interest, right?

And this is especially common in people who, uh, you know, they come to us and they say, you know, I lost 50 pounds on keto or I, or I just did this fasting protocol or this calorie restriction and I'm down 25 pounds or something like that. And this is normally not the only thing they did, right? This is on top of years and often decades of other energy depriving interventions. And so there's a lot of health issues there. And in the process of getting our metabolism up,

getting the stress hormones down, fixing our gut, fixing our thyroid, addressing the reproductive hormones, addressing nutrient deficiencies, and fulfilling your body's needs. There's often some weight regain. There's some repayment of this debt that, and we've talked about this in the context previous podcast episodes in the context of weight loss and the Minnesota starvation experiment and other studies on weight cycling, where you basically see that oftentimes following

Jay Feldman (29:05)

you weight loss, there's a huge compromise to health and regaining, you know, someone's very prone to regaining weight. And if they are doing the right things metabolically and supplying their body with what they need, oftentimes there is some weight regain, but they're feeling a lot better in the process. Both of those things are important because if we're just gaining weight, but we're not actually seeing improvements metabolically, then this might not be that we're actually paying back that metabolic debt. There might be still some major things interfering with energy production and we could still,

There could still be some major issues to address. might not actually be on, on that path toward health, but if we're actually noticing those improvements and we're seeing the shifts metabolically, but there's some weight gain sometimes or weight regain, should say, sometimes that's par for the course. Sometimes that's a part of the metabolic recovery and that as we continue to improve and we see the gut health continue to improve and that no toxin decrease, we see the stress hormones decrease and you know, we see the sleep continue to improve.

And we see, you know, testosterone come up or libido increase. Like as we start to see these other improvements, then the weight will start to come down as a by-product of that improved health, not because of some intentional calorie restriction or fasting, or, you know, as you said, like a cut or, you know, dramatically increasing the exercise or something like that. And that's a, it's a tough, sometimes it can be a really tough, idea or tough concept for people to come to terms with because

We don't want to gain weight. We don't want to stay at a higher weight and it can be physically uncomfortable, but also most of the time it's psychological and mental. But, you know, you, you had that experience and during that time you were able to really focus on the benefits you were feeling physically and mentally, right? Night and day difference from that crashing point, right? That, that moment where, you know, the fatigue was there and the blood pressure was high and the blood glucose was high.

But that's tough and it's tough to be patient on the body composition side, but you were. And so let's talk about what happened after that. There was kind of this period with some major improvements and also some shifts in body composition after, as you said, having gains around 20 pounds, give or take.

Andrew Wallen (31:19)

Right. And for me, what was apparent was initially like when we work with clients, we talk about, what's the most amount of food you can eat to not gain your loose weight? And for me, on that initial refeed and metabolic recovery phase, I was eating over 1,000 calories more than I had previously been eating when I had started this process. And my carbohydrates were 400 to 500 grams of carbs.

and not gaining any more weight. And I think that was really a mindset shift for myself as well when I knew that, okay, I can eat a high amount of carbohydrates versus what I could do previously. And I was maintaining my body weight and I was getting these wins. And like you said, I can't stress enough for people to journal and especially when they know how bad they feel in doing some of the stress induced dieting is that you gain these wins and

I tell clients, promise you, as you gain more wins than metabolism, the weight loss will come and like you said, it'll be a byproduct. It's not what we're forcing.

things I want to touch on real quickly because I think it's really important. One is the journaling is also really important because people forget, we forget how we felt before. We forget what it used to be like waking up as ourselves every day and what we used to experience. And the differences can be astounding, but sometimes we actually need to point them out to ourselves or have someone else to point them out to us who we take really thorough notes when we're coaching with people. And sometimes we'll ask them a question from something that they mentioned on the first call or really early on and they're like,

I haven't felt that in months. Like I haven't had that experience in months. So yeah, definitely important to, to make sure that you're taking some notes as far as what you experienced day to day, to, that we can really highlight those, those wins and actually be aware of them, which makes it a little bit easier to stay the course for people who are struggling, especially with the psychological side of the weight, if that is the case. and the other thing I want to mention is this, the weight journey was the same for me too. I gained.

Jay Feldman (33:23)

think it was 30 pounds, which some of which was muscle as well as, as body fat. But, and I talked about this and that in those episodes with Mike talking to our health journey. So I'll link back to those, but I had a similar journey myself. So just wanted to mention them, but okay.

Yeah, so yeah, you know, and so on that front, you know, like it was, uh, you know, one of these things, like you said, psychologically, you know, and I think it goes back to that lens that we see the world through where, know, it's all about body image is all about fat is this driver of metabolic health. And if we don't lose that fat then, you know, but a lot of times, you know, when obviously we work with clients, you know, one of my favorite joys is when a client who has an initial weight loss goal ends up shifting to the concept that

the energy they have and where their sleep is and all these other things, they're okay with focusing on that and letting the weight loss come. And inevitably, with those people that remain patient and support their metabolism, the weight loss does come. And in my case, that's what happened, is that as I continued to support myself with 3,500 plus calories and eating 400 grams of carbs a day, I just started to feel better. So inevitably, my...

my body metabolically was shifting into a point where, you know, I could feel just, you know, becoming leaner, my, pants becoming looser, you know, my body composition just changing, you know, as I was, you know, feeling more energy, you know, and sure that led to, you know, better workouts, you know, but I would say that the workouts didn't drive the weight loss. I would say the energy allowed me to have the better workouts, which allowed to aid in, you know, type of a body composition change. And

From a workout perspective, as a guy who owns a workout facility, in the beginning, I went months with not working out because I was so committed to changing my energy metabolism. gaining back that energy levels and the recovery that I could do to work out on a frequent basis was just an amazing thing to obtain again. And like we said, it goes on to those wins. If people are searching for this

Andrew Wallen (35:34)

miracle to happen without gathering all those winds up into that point, then we need to be careful. And so for me, it just started to happen where I could just tell there was a lot of things transitioning in that transition where I really started to lose body fat without doing any type of restriction, without doing any type of... I I still was eating a bedtime snack of probably 50 grams of carbs. was still getting up and drinking juice first thing in the morning. There was no...

you know, changes in any of that. But I had gotten some blood work again with you and I remember going through it and my thyroid levels had been improving, my testosterone had went up, you know, my cholesterol was under 200 for the first time in 10 plus years. you know, like we know cholesterol being a metabolic marker, not necessarily a cardiovascular marker, but just in general, I knew metabolically. And so what was really exciting about that moment was, you know, after, you know, a decade plus of just

chronic stress living and driving my body into a hole, you know, I had, you know, followed and trust, you know, the path of knowing that I was going to support my body, be in that partnership with my body. And, you know, I tell clients that, you know, I had this intersectional moment where my body composition, the way I felt day to day with my energy, my sleep, my mood, and then my blood work all had come to this perfect crossing point where I just was like, wow.

This feels really good to be able to, you know, look at all of these data markers and just feel like, you know, here in the process that I didn't cut a corner, that I didn't decide to do a fat loss phase or do something that I needed to do to cut and, you know, was able to, and once again, what's great about this is once again, no benging. You know, I'm freed from food noise and diet jail, I call it. And then I also now feel like

I'm eating anything I want and I'm able to maintain a leanness that I had when I had that metabolic break doing landscaping work that we talked about three plus years ago. so I just can't put it into words the relief that a person can feel. especially when they realize that health is not

Andrew Wallen (38:01)

there's no destination point. We always say success is a journey, not the destination. And so the journey we're on is to find the healthiest version of ourselves. And what's great about this is that the bio-adrenergetic view of health and the energy balance system has allowed me to find the healthiest version of myself that I know I can live out the rest of my life. And it's just exciting to be able to talk to clients. And once again, this is why I drilled down on the last health bus stop, because

I truly believe that I've searched everywhere and it's a pretty remarkable result in how you feel when you just understand the process and just trust the people that are here to lead you and help you and just allow you to make these practical changes day in, day out.

I mean, think you said it beautifully, but just to summarize a little bit here. So after a couple of years of working through all this and seeing incremental wins, seeing improvements that when we looked back were monumental, right? Major, major wins. But then we saw these things kind of converge, right? And we saw it reflected in terms of the blood work, right? We saw markers that hadn't shifted yet start to shift and get into a better spot. We saw it with how you were feeling with just

you know, there was initial major improvements in physical and mental energy. And as you said earlier, it's, you kind of don't know what health feels like. You don't know what's possible, especially when you've kind of dug down into that metabolic hole for so long. So we realize some new levels of physical and mental energy in terms of digestion, in terms of, you know, a number of other issues that have been coming up in terms of, you know, libido, as you had mentioned, and some of these markers on the blood work.

And then we also saw this shift in body composition and it came along with better energy and recovery from the gym. But, it wasn't, it wasn't something where, as you said, there was any restriction, there was no calorie cutting. And the way it came down at a rate that was far beyond like anything that could have been done by an extra, let's say, you know, let's say we're going calories in calories out model and there was an extra couple hundred calories a day of used of movement or of a better metabolic rate at that rate, it still would have taken.

Jay Feldman (40:16)

You know, if we're thinking 3,500 calories per pound of body weight, that's, you know, nearly three weeks for a pound. And this wasn't, it wasn't like, you know, the weight was coming off one pound every three weeks. this, the weight and waste measurements both came down very quickly just as a result of hitting your stride really kind of really breaking through metabolically and, you know, seeing that drop in stress hormones, seeing the improvement in thyroid function and metabolic function.

seeing the improvement in the reproductive hormones. And that's what we're looking for in terms of health more than anything, but then also as a byproduct of that, that's what we're looking for with body composition is for that to happen naturally as a result of improving our health. so yeah, I think that there's journey that you've experienced, which as you said, health is a journey. And so it's not like we just hit some point and that's the end all be all, but what you've experienced up through this point is such a good example of

of what we're looking for and what we, you what you and I both then get to see with our clients using the system. But yeah, it's a really fantastic example of the journey that, you know, and the process that we're looking for.

Yeah. And for me, you what was great about it, especially with, you know, factor working with clients is that, you know, like this process of, you know, body composition change and getting leaner and just, you know, feeling, you know, I am just as lean, if not leaner than I was at that, you know, breaking moment I had three years ago and where I was very diligently, you know, tracking glucose and I was fasting and, you know, pushing my body to limits.

you know, because I felt like that was what to do. And so, you know, I just can't stress enough that, you know, in this process, like you said, I was tracking my calories still on regular basis. There was no deficit, you know, like, like, you saw it, you know, when you would log in to see my information. So it wasn't like that. I had done a deficit and, you know, had had done a cut phase. It just had happened. And what was great about it is that in the process of it is that because a lot of times when we, you know, we hear people doing these cut phases or these fat loss phases is that

Andrew Wallen (42:29)

they will tend to sacrifice some metabolic markers or metabolic symptoms. Their stress signaling will come back, whether it's a little bit of hair loss, a little bit of dry skin, or impaired thyroid function, or sleep disturbances. But they're willing to look past those things to just get some sort of body composition change. And so for me, it was awesome because this is how we coach our clients is to, sure, you want to make that body composition change. Well, let's first evaluate the stress signaling because we cannot

in, you know, increase the stress signaling and cause, you know, some sort of threat to the body while trying to lose weight in a healthy state. And if they do, I can promise you it's going to be a short term gain for long term failure. And so I always tell clients, if you do it that way, just take the picture because it's not going to last. And so you can at least remember that when it happened. And what's great in my, my, you my standpoint, and I say it very humbly is that I don't have to take a picture anymore, is that I can now just

be me and just be healthy. And it doesn't mean I'm living rigid. I'm not avoiding going out to eat with family or doing anything.

But the opposite, right? mean, you've told me how your family can't believe that you're going out to restaurants and you're eating with them instead of eating your own meals. Like you've had, more freedom than ever.

Right. But what's great about is that like, once again, back to that partnership with your body is that, you know, like when I do have moments that maybe I am fed, like, you know, I'm just listening to what my body's telling me. And so there's I'm not, you know, in the past, when I would have binged, I would have punished myself. I would have not, you know, I would have gone the next day, fasted, done a workout, fasted, continued to drink black coffee, fasted, you know, because I was angry with myself. Now, what's great is that I can eat whatever I want, you know, in, you know,

Andrew Wallen (44:17)

for the most part, in our quality foods, but I can eat foods and I'm not, I don't have guilt. I don't have that I have to punish myself. And I'm just listening to the way my body's responding. And it's just a beautiful testimony to just the idea that this is truly your last health bust up.

Yeah, I love it. I love it. and just to highlight one other thing you were talking about, which was the cost of doing something like trying to lose body fat with calorie restriction or doing some sort of a cut. There's no way getting around the fact that that has to come at the costs of our metabolism has to up-regulate stress hormones has to down-regulate thyroid activity because we're removing the energy that our bodies need and that our bodies adapt to that. Right. And they,

in the long-term are then going to want to hold on to body fat more. And we see this in these weight cycling studies. You know, we see the result of just what happens when you cut calories and then you regain the weight far faster. It's really hard to stay at that point. You have to continue with restriction. As you said, that's why you were saying, take a picture, because it's not going to last. And that's what normally gets people to this place in the first place is, you know, having the, the cycling where often they'll gain some weight and then they'll go really hard on their diet, whatever it is. they.

The weight goes down and then they regain the weight and then the weight comes back down and all through that process, the trend is up, right? So the lows end up being higher, higher, higher, and the highs end up higher, you know, continually getting higher. And so we know that that calorie restriction is not the answer. And, and when we do put our metabolism first and put our health first, we end up with something, as you said, that's sustainable and comfortable and doesn't come with restriction. And you know, is going to last like, you know, that

This is the last time that you're ever going to be losing that 20 pounds. You know, that weight isn't like coming back on because you would see that it happens when you eat at a restaurant, even if you eat something that you don't feel good after your body regulates and you're right back to the same, you know, weight and body composition after, you know, it's, it's not a situation where you have to be perfectly dialed in all the time or else you just crash. fall back to where you were.

Jay Feldman (46:29)

You actually have the stability and the resilience and the freedom. so, yeah, it's a, it's a totally different mindset. As you said, as you were kind of alluding to in the past, a, the inside did not reflect the outside, even though you looked like the epitome of health, you were feeling anything but that. But also it was something that required constant force to stay there as opposed to that being the natural state of your body, you know, that being your natural existence. And so, yeah, very different state, even though you look

the same on the outside and now you can actually say that the inside reflects the outer.

Yeah. Yeah. And it's, you know, it's, you know, I know we, you know, I talked to clients about this is that, you know, the stress induced dieting, you know, they, it's all about, you know, fatty acid metabolism, burning fat, you know, fat mobilization. And so I love the way we coach clients because our motto is, you know, is we're going to invite fat out. We're not going to force it out. And so when you do this, where you support your body the whole time, like my body did is I felt like I never had to force fat out. I invited it out in a healthy way.

And what's great is that, like you said, this will be the last time I have to lose that weight. it's just, yeah, it's a beautiful thing.

Yeah, definitely. So are there any other, you know, comparing before and after thought processes and the way we think about health, the relationship you have with food. I mean, we've talked about a lot of these things and how it's changed also, you know, I alluded to it and feel free to expand or not if you, if you want, as far as, the impact on like your relationships with your family and things like that. But in terms of just the way you think about health, nutrition, fitness, the way that you work with other people and how you evaluate their health.

Jay Feldman (48:12)

What else has changed?

Yeah, I mean, for me, the biggest thing now is with doing this for as long as I have, it's about being able to be in someone's life. And I take the responsibility very, very serious because there is so much noise out there. And so a lot of times with clients, like I always talk about, my goal is to be a health and fitness translator. I want to be able to calm the noise that they're hearing because like we know, they come to us with so many

thought process of what diet is or what these different things are. And so it's just been an enlightening experience to be able to just to have that thought process where I know when I'm working with someone that not only am I helping them and serving them, but I'm also for myself, I'm in it with them because I've gone through the system. For me, because I'm on it with them, I feel like I'm in it with them day by day and things they do.

From my standpoint, it's just a beautiful thing to know that, you know, first of all, that energy balance, like I said, governs all things that, you know, if you do not have energy balance, you know, in your, you know, the way you're supporting your body, you're going to have up regulation of stress signaling, you know, and that's going to be dependent on the person's blueprint and where they break out. And then obviously understanding, like I said, that partnership with your body, learning to listen, learning to just, you know, fully understand that it's not trying to kill you or make you fatter is a huge relief psychologically.

And you will experience this, if you continue just to stay true to supporting your body and focus on energy metabolism and just understanding stress signaling. And so from there, it's just helped me. Yeah, from just standpoint of social life and just different things, it's just nice to know that I can go anywhere and have anything I want. it's sure, it might be a special occasion. It might be something to where that I can.

Andrew Wallen (50:12)

Partake in it and not, know, feel like, you know, because typically when you're doing the ancestral ideology diets, you end up inevitably sitting by yourself at tables eating certain foods and you know, socially, that's just not good for, you know, family. I know, you know, even, you know, having a Mexican Coke with my daughter, she gets so excited about that. And, you know, if you'd asked me 10 years ago, if that would have been the case that, you know, would never have have happened. And so, yeah, it's just a just a beautiful way to live. And that's what we know.

From my standpoint, we talk about, know, like, if anything you do ends in the word diet, you should stop. It's not sustainable. It's just right away red flags should pop up. And so, you know, the standpoint of the way we come from and address people in the energy balance system is that, first of all, you know, like we talked about, I think in Greek, the word diet is way of life. And so what we're doing is we're just teaching people a healthy way of life. And from that standpoint, you know, now they can just take that journey and, you know, start to just calm the noise.

you know, relax, you know, their thought process around food and just absolutely, you know, enjoy the people around them, which obviously is a human. We're built for community. So it's a beautiful thing to be able to do that.

Yeah, for sure. We talk about it physiologically, you know, how in these different low carb fasting, fighting against your body sort of approaches, there's, there's such a dampening of, of your metabolic health and, and of your physiology, but it's almost like the same in terms of your mental health, your spirit, like your humanity a little bit. And again, this, this being something that I don't, I hope that this isn't taken offensively is, you know, for someone who's

You know, having that experience, this is coming from people who have been there. And sometimes you don't know how different it can feel until you're out of it. the, you know, we were talking about, the change in terms of community, terms of social experiences that happen as a byproduct here. But I think there's for a lot of people, something deeper to like a shift in empathy and compassion and patience. And these are things that we don't normally.

Jay Feldman (52:20)

considered to be the result of our health, especially when we're in this mindset that, you know, the example you gave earlier was perfect, right? Where this binging wasn't physiological, it was psychological. And we were going to, you you were going to a psychotherapist at one point, or at least pursuing that to try to resolve that issue. And the reality that that was actually physiological. And I think we don't realize how much of our mental state and our outlook on life

and how we see the people around us or relationships with the people around us, how much those are actually physiological as well. And I know that's something that changed quite a bit for me, just an entire shift in terms of my outlook on life. so that came about as a result of this approach. yeah, I wasn't anticipating discussing that, but it's something that I think is inevitable.

Right. Well, I I think for me with clients is that in order for you to be the healthiest version for other people around you, you have to not take a selfish moment, but you have to just stop and pause and say, okay, if I'm going to be the best version for the people around me, what does that look like? And so from a standpoint of bioenergetics and energy metabolism, I think it's worth just sitting and having those moments. And that's what I also take as

complete, you know, high responsibilities. These people that want to coach with us seek us out to be able to, you know, help them help themselves because maybe they're in an environment or they're in a situation in their life where they're not getting a chance to focus at all on their health. And so once again, it's just an ability to put a community together so that people can just be the best versions of themselves. And yeah, it's an amazing process that as we know, physiologically, you know, things flow from there.

on how you feel and so it's just, an amazing, beautiful system. I know health can be emotional and I know that very much when you're thinking about where your health status is and what you're hearing and reading on the internet, it can be very troublesome at times. But when you realize your body's not trying to kill you or make you fatter, you realize that actually it wants to work with you if you support it properly. And the bio-energetic view of health is the only thing that I've seen

Andrew Wallen (54:45)

you know, and come across that really addresses, you know, you being able to do that. And, you know, when you just sign up for that partnership, then now you can actually, you know, find the healthiest version of you. it's, like I said, again, it's just an amazing process. And I just want people to come away from this, being, you know, inspired or motivated that, you know, here are, you know, people that have been in your shoes, you know, we've, we've done the stuff you've done in the name of health. Okay. That's, that's why we did it. We did, you know, but

At end of the day, you just have to listen to your body. And if it's telling you opposite of what you think you're doing to it, you're just going to have to have a conversation with yourself. when that happens, then hopefully you can find the way that best supports you.

Yeah. And so with that, want to take a minute to talk in a bit more detail about what your experience was like on the client side with the energy balance approach and the different programs, how we evaluated your health issues and then went ahead and resolved them and what that's changed for you.

Yeah, so, you know, coming across the system and just kind of realizing what the depth of information that you had put out on the Energy Balance podcast, you know, I knew that, like I said before, that there was a system that I had to learn and had to see how you had, you know, taken the bio-energetics view of health and putting it into, you know, the way you view it with just the research and the background you had. so joining on and looking at the different options, the

The that you had had available, the Energy Balance course, was a great starting point for me because it allowed me to just gather education, gather, you know, just a base understanding of how you were approaching and how the energy balance system worked from the podcast. Because the podcast, you know, at times can be pretty in-depth when it comes to the information, but, know, when it comes to the practicality of it and making sure that we can implement it with clients and making sure the average person can do this, the course was a great start. And then from there,

Andrew Wallen (56:41)

you know, was getting into the group coaching and the community. And I will say, you know, for me, you know, once again, we're built for community as a species. so getting into the energy-balanced community and energy-balanced solution was amazing to be able to, you know, be in there with like-minded people, people who were also struggling from, you know, and recovering from all that stress-based dieting that we had talked about with, you know, carnivore and keto and fasting. And so it was great to be part of that. And then getting on the group calls, just once again, a great sense of community where

You know that there's eight to 10 people on a call all working on the same type of things, but it's unique in the way that you would manage the calls and the way that each person would get opportunity to not only ask questions about themselves, but also just find out about other people's blueprints and other people's health journeys and maybe find a nugget or some bit of information that really was supportive for them. So that was an amazing opportunity. then moving into the one-on-one coaching, the one-on-one coaching

You know, was really something, especially for me and what I'd done leading up to this with being someone that did a lot of one-on-one coaching. It was just a great insight to, you know, really drill down for us to, you know, just look at the data at just a more individualized level. always say that, you know, I, champion what I call the individual blueprint. And for as long as I've been in this industry, you know, seeing how you had organized and seeing how you'd put together the one-on-one coaching, it individualized coaching at a level I never even knew was possible. And so.

what was great from my standpoint at learning the energy balance system, going through the energy balance solution, the course, it gave me a platform where having the opportunity to help clients because for me and seeing behind the scenes and how we had been coaching clients to see what you established, it was something I knew that I wanted to get out to other people and I knew from a one-on-one coaching standpoint that the depth

that you go into and the depth that we go into when it comes to looking at in-depth information, whether it's in chronometer or whatever food tracking platform they're using, in-depth blood work to evaluate what is their metabolic landscape currently and understanding the symptom profile that they were putting forward and how does that match up with what we're seeing blood work-wise. So it's just an amazing opportunity to be able to evaluate those and then now

Andrew Wallen (59:08)

be in position where I can help people alongside you regain their health, again, utilizing the energy balance approach in your energy balance system. So it's amazing.

Yeah. Yeah. I appreciate you sharing that. And I think you touched on a couple of really key things that people mentioned a lot in the programs. One, as you mentioned was people listen to the podcast and sometimes the feeling is, you know, like, this is really helpful information. I'm going to go ahead and apply it directly. And in other situations, people feel a little overwhelmed and it feels like a lot of the background information and physiology that they're not necessarily able to easily or comfortably apply.

And so on one hand, it's translating that into practical action steps and direct strategies based on what someone's experiencing and also giving them the tools to evaluate their own health so that they have that autonomy moving forward. Right. They're able to tune into their body signals and really understand in a way that they haven't before what their body's telling them and then use that to guide them and to identify, okay, I'm having this intestinal symptom.

That probably indicates poor bioflow. Here are a few strategies I can use to resolve that. or, know, sometimes it's simpler where they're doing a little bit of tracking on chronometer and they see, okay, in the last week, my macros are shifted in this way. My protein is, is a bit lower and I know when it's higher, I feel a lot better in terms of mood and stability throughout the day. Or my fat has been trending up and that tends to slow my digestion and you know, and they're able to make those tweaks on their own and have those tools. So I think that's one.

piece that's mentioned often. Then the other one that you touched on with the group coaching, the energy balance solution program, which is a group coaching program. And it also has a whole video library and sample meal plans and resources and, uh, recipes, know, tons of different components that make it really easy for people to implement. one of the concerns is with group coaching, how applicable is this information going to be? And also how much help am I going to get? And so, uh, you know, one thing to mention.

Jay Feldman (01:01:19)

that you touched on is people mentioned all the time that, you know, I was listening to this other person on the group call. And I realized that those issues are really similar to mine. I didn't think that that was going to happen, but they mentioned some things and they were talking about this supplement and they were talking about this histamine issue or this microbiome issue. It sounds like maybe that could apply to me too. So now with that in mind, like, what should I do? And, know, and then we're able to help guide them in that way, but yeah, people don't necessarily realize how much.

Overlapped there is obviously there's a lot of individuality, but people don't realize how fundamental a lot of the things are that affect our physiology, like gut health and blood sugar regulation and macros and micronutrients and sleep and all of the rest and how much of those can be at play. Whether we're talking about an autoimmune condition or brain fog or joint pain, you know, so often comes down to the fundamentals. So that's something that really comes out on those group calls. But then as you mentioned, we keep the calls really small. So everyone does have time.

to get their questions answered. And I'm the one who, who hosts those group calls. So people are concerned. They're not going to get that help from me, but you know, we manage it in a way that everyone gets to ask direct questions, and get that guidance. then as you mentioned, the one-on-one just being an opportunity for us to take that full comprehensive approach and look at everything from start to finish, look at the whole history and look at the lab work. Not again, not just currently, but looking at the whole history and what, how that puts the constellation together.

look at, you know, some in-depth tracking, looking at body temperature, looking at the food log and doing real in-depth, real in-depth intake, looking at all the different symptoms so that we can piece that picture together and create that whole plan and then walk them through that. And I know you've mentioned how much better equipped you feel working with people now with all sorts of different issues because of the kind of depth that we go with understanding the history and getting

a real comprehensive picture of what's going on.

Andrew Wallen (01:03:20)

Yeah. And I think the way you set it up, which to me from, you know, at first as an outsider now to being, you know, on the inside, helping people with the system is that really it's all about meeting, you know, the client or the person where they need to be met. And with the course, with the group coaching, with the one-on-one, you know, it really gives us many layers to be able to approach clients and help clients, you know, exactly where they're at right now in their health journey. And, know, it's, yeah, just

You know, it allows for us to really walk a partner with that client and to be able to give them, you know, what they need to regain their health again. And so, yeah, it's, once again, it's an amazing avenue and a system that we can utilize. And especially now from a one-on-one coaching standpoint and working with people, you know, there's a beautiful synergy that goes on where, you know, people will do the course, or they'll do some group coaching and they'll come to one-on-one and they'll go back to the group.

We're really here just to help people. And that's what I love most about this. It's not about what we're trying to get people to buy into. It's just us putting forth a platform and an ability to serve and help people. And that's really what's been amazing about this whole journey.

Yeah. Yeah. And, and to see people calibrate based on the help and guidance that they need, and then also be able to take that information and move on and feel comfortable. feel like they have the tools and the tool belt to be able to move on on their own after and, and, continue to see further optimal health. mean, as you were talking about earlier, it's a journey. And so we're not necessarily hitting this point where all of a sudden everything is a hundred percent perfect, but we have the tools, the guidance, you know, whatever it is that we need.

to continue on that journey on our own and get to that place. And obviously by the time that's happened, we're seeing incredible results, incredible improvements, and sometimes lifelong issues, you know, whether it's gut related or sleep related or weight related, whatever.

Andrew Wallen (01:05:18)

Right. And I know for me, you as a coach, you know, I still go back and watch the group calls just because I love to, you know, see the different people's responses and watch their journey and see the things they're working through. And, you know, on those group calls, one of my favorite things is how you start each call and you ask, you know, what are the wins that people have experienced so far? And, you know, like we talked earlier, you know, in this, it's about gathering all those wins because, you know, your health is a journey. You know, there is no true destination in this. so

It's just amazing from a community standpoint, knowing you're not alone and then knowing that you have paved the way for us to have a system that really, once again, individualizes coaching just at a level that is nothing I've ever seen before. So it's a beautiful thing.

Yeah. Yeah. Well, and it's great to have you here too, and being able to share that and bring that to more people, right? Be able to help more, more people with that same approach. Um, and I'm glad you mentioned those two things with the group calls one, the community feeling and people sharing those wins. And, uh, you know, I think that that adds to the motivation, you know, being able to hear all the other people's success stories in there. And then also, you know, as you mentioned, we have a whole.

group call archive. at this point we've got almost 400 calls in there of prior group calls where I've been helping people with all sorts of different issues and there, and you can search those based on the timestamps and, and transcripts. so if you're coming into the program and you have some sort of an issue, there's tons and tons of, of prior calls to listen through, to get some ideas as far as strategies and what could be really going on. So yeah, a ton of, of really helpful resources there.

Is there anything else that you want to mention as far as how your approach has shifted, especially now that you went through the energy balance approach yourself, kind of saw the shift along the way, saw the improvements and also now on the coaching side, like have really gotten really familiar with the tools that we have and how we implement the system. Has anything else changed? know, when you, when someone comes to you now with some sort of a health issue compared to before, is there anything else that's,

Jay Feldman (01:07:32)

that's different that comes to mind.

Well, I mean, with coaching people now for what we have and the in-depthness that we coach people with the coaching plan and the way that we evaluate every coaching call, I would just say that, first and foremost, we've said it before, you're in a partnership with your body. So just accept that, realize that your body, once again, is not trying to kill you, it's not trying to make you fat. So partner with it, start to listen to it. That's where we come in, is I always tell all the clients on the intro calls is that I'm going to partner with you.

And then we're going to partner with the body and we're going to figure out how we can create a good partnership so that we can create the healthiest version of you. And so with the coaching plan and just the way the system's set up is that truly it's a way for all of us to regain our health. There is no aspect of a one size fits all when it comes to health. It's very individual. There are some general principles. Like we say, energy balance governs all things. We know that from that perspective.

It's just about finding where you are on your health journey and being able to implement these bio-energetic principles through the energy balance system. I just can't champion enough this journey because it really is something to where I've searched many different avenues, many different programs and different plans and experts. And I can say that looking now,

the that we organize it and the way that we build the coaching plans, the way you handle the group coaching calls, everything internally, we truly are just here to serve and help people and just to help them find the healthiest version of themselves. I'm just so thankful to be part of this journey.

Jay Feldman (01:09:16)
